Americorp volunteers teamed up with students from Minot State to help one resident in northwest Minot. The team spent the day mucking, gutting and power washing the home of Lloyd-Ann Caston. The group stripped the floors and walls for cleaning and re-wiring.
Volunteers were happy to help Minot residents get back on their feet, and know that there is more work to be done.
“I think that`s really important that people are aware of tat even thought the flood happened a year ago, a year later there`s still just as much work that needs to be completed," said Lauren Brostowitez, an Americorps Ambassador.
Caston felt touched to receive the volunteer help, and knows that people like this are important to the recovery efforts of the city.
“For all those people that they`ve been helping the whole time they`re here, my goodness what an incredible boost to Minot, and what a help they are. So I`m really thankful for them."
Today was the Americorp team`s last day here in Minot. Their next stop is Cushing, Minnesota.
