Hope Village Milestone | Video

Sarahbeth Ackerman | 9/7/2012

A milestone occurred today for all the flood recovery volunteers at Hope Village. Since the 2011 Souris River flood, volunteers from all over came together to rebuild the community of Minot.

So far, the effort has hosted one hundred and seventy teams with an average of 1,500 volunteers.

Today they were able to see just how much their hard work paid off.

"We`re extremely excited that we did some figuring today and realized with the numbers of teams and volunteers that come through Hope Village from June of last year we`ve exceeded the million mark in the value that volunteer time that was given to the city of Minot through Hope Village," said coordinator Steve Carbno.

These volunteers have put in an average of 57,000 hours on various work related to the flood.
