Wednesday Semi Accident on I-94 | Video

Michelle San Miguel | 9/7/2012

Many drivers who were heading west on I-94 near Mandan on Wednesday evening were forced to take another route after a semi accident closed down part of the interstate. The Highway Patrol says around 7:20, a semi tractor trailer carrying diesel was traveling on I-94, nine miles west of Mandan when the driver struck a tractor pulling a rake and rolled over.

Troopers say between 200 to 300 gallons of diesel spilled into the ditch.

Law enforcement agencies worked with the State Health Department to clean it up.

Lt. Norman Ruud says, "The driver of the semi indicated that when he came up the hill the sun got in his eyes and made it difficult for him to see. He did not see the piece of farm equipment that was traveling on the roadway and struck it from the back."

The driver of the semi was transported to the hospital. The Highway Patrol says he suffered minor injuries.
