Enbridge Rail Loading Up | Video

About a year ago, Enbridge Pipeline started construction on their first rail car station in Berthold. On Tuesday, crews got to load oil into their first train car.

Enbridge is currently working out the kinks in phase one of the project, but eventually they`ll be able to transport out 10,000 barrels a day. The oil is transported from truck to rail and then to the customers. The full operation gives Enbridge an extra transportation option than just their pipeline systems.

“We all high-fived everybody because we had the first rail car full. So this has been a long time coming and everybody`s antsy and customers are ready to give us oil, so it`s been a fun time,” said Charles Roehm, Enbridge Rail supervisor.

“It`s been a lot of planning in weeks past and then hiring crews and finally to see things coming together, there`s a lot going into it and a lot to do yet going forward. But it`s pretty exciting to see the guys out here finally get their hands a little bit dirty and seeing what they`re going to be doing,” said Randy Christiansen, Berthold Oil Terminal General Manager.

Phase two of the Berthold Station Expansion Project is expected to be in service January of next year which will be transporting 80,000 barrels of oil per day.
