188th Returns Home | Video

KVLY - Fargo | 8/17/2012

It was nothing less than a hero`s welcome for members of the North Dakota National Guard Friday. One hundred and sixty soldiers made their way home after serving 12 months in Kuwait.

Family, friends and strangers showed up to show their support to the 188th Engineer Company. Loved ones say it was one long year, and they`re happy to see their love ones home.

"You cant describe it. This is my second child that`s been deployed and until they`re on us soil you really can`t describe your feelings," said Tammy Miller, who welcomed home her daughter.

Since the 2001 attacks on America, the North Dakota National Guard has mobilized nearly 3,900 soldiers and more then 1,800 airmen in support of global war on terrorism.

Four soldiers from the western half of the state also returned, but they were on separate flights.
