Fatal Crash Near Richardton

One person is dead after a pickup/semi crash this morning about three miles east of Richardton. The driver of the pickup was in the westbound lane of I-94, switching lanes for a stalled vehicle, when the driver returned to the original lane and slowed down for an unknown reason. Which put the pickup in the path of a semi hauling corn.

The semi, driven by Janice Etherton, 65, from Glen Ullin, tried to brake, but couldn`t avoid hitting the pickup. Both vehicles spun into the ditch, where they both rolled.

Etherton was transported to a Dickinson hospital. The driver of the pickup was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup driver`s name has not been released. The incident is under investigation.
