Possible School in Lincoln | Video

Kristin Clouston | 8/1/2012

People in Lincoln say they want an elementary school. That`s what they told Bismarck School Board members Wednesday night. The district hosted a picnic at Lincoln City Hall to get feedback from community members about building a school.

Lincoln residents have paid taxes to the Bismarck School District for the past 39 years. There will be a special election on September 18, and if the school bond passes, the district will build the school just north of the intersection of Lincoln Road and McDougal Drive.

School Board President Steve Marquardt explained, "Basically a lot of people said it`s about time. You know, why didn`t you guys work on this a little sooner? And some of them have had kids go through the Bismarck Public Schools and graduate, and now they`re planning on getting a school out here, depending on the bond issue."

If the bond passes, the district will also build an elementary school on the north end of Bismarck and a third high school. If you have questions about the school or the upcoming election, board members say you can give them a call or check www.bismarckschools.org.
