Minot AFB Captain Wins Hero Award | Video

Amy Fox | 8/1/2012

The Director of Operations at Minot Air Force base is the new recipient of the National Combined Federal Campaign Hero Award for his work on the base that benefited the United Way.

Captain Lucas Eby and an 80 member committee took on the challenge of raising money for the 2011 Minot Area Combined Federal Campaign. The campaign solicits military members to contribute to different organizations and charities.

Their goal for the five week campaign was to raise $155,000. But, when it was all said and done, the base raised $195,000.

"They basically see it come through an individual, but it means a lot to the entire base itself, showing how much everybody contributed to the overall campaign and it just really reflects how many people are involved in the whole effort to make it a success," Eby said.

This is the first time someone at the Minot Air Force Base has won the Hero Award.
