Possible New School In Lincoln | Video

Kristin Clouston | 7/30/2012

The Bismarck School Board wants to build another high school and two elementary schools. One of the proposed elementary sites is on district-owned property in Lincoln. It`s just north of the intersection of Lincoln Road and McDougal Drive.

Lincoln is part of the Bismark school system and has paid taxes for the past 39 years. Board members want to know if voters think they`ve picked the best location and will be holding a community meeting and picnic Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 7:00 at Lincoln City Hall.

"But the board in proposing that, also needs to know what are peoples questions? What are they wondering? What do they fear? We know at a regular public school board meeting it`s difficult to get an entire community in and they may not feel as comfortable asking as they would one on one," said Superintendent Tamara Uselman.

Right now 400 Lincoln kids attend Bismarck elementary schools. The election is September 18.

Mandan will also be holding a special election for a new school on September 25.
