Granting Wishes | Video

A young Mandan girl had a simple wish come true this weekend. Winter Maloney, 10, has mitochondrial chain disorder and has recently been suffering from respiratory failure.

Saturday morning Make-A-Wish of North Dakota granted Winter`s wish. She arrived to Sertoma Park in a limo and was greeted by dozens of loved ones and strangers, including Girl Scouts from Mandan who have made Winter an honorary Girl Scout.

Winter was escorted through a red carpet and then continued on to the SuperSlide Amusement Park in Bismarck. Her friends and family were invited into the park before it opened. They watched Winter`s wish come true: to go down the superslide. It`s a simple wish, but something she hasn`t done in more than four years as health problems have made it harder to do.

"I used to take her down the superslide when she was a lot younger and that used to be our favorite thing but with her condition we haven`t done it recently that`s why I figured we`ll go down the slide today," said her farther Raymond Maloney.

On Saturday, Make-A-Wish also treated Winter and her family to lunch at Sertoma Park and a trip to Dakota Zoo.
