Emergency Cooling Assistance Available

| 7/19/2012

If you`re a low income individual with medical needs the state may be able to help you with cooling assistance. This is the fifth year North Dakota has offered emergency cooling assistance.

To qualify, you need a signed statement from a doctor, physicians assistant, nurse practitioner or public health nurse verifying your medical condition and the need for a cool living space. If you`re not currently receiving energy assistance you can contact your county social service office to see if you meet the financial guidelines.

The Department of Human Services has set aside $57,000 for the program. The funds will be used to install window air conditioners, repair air conditioning units and to purchase oscillating and window fans.
