Man Attacks Deputy and Hides

Valley News Live | 7/13/2012

A Grand Forks County man is in custody after authorities say he attacked a deputy and hid in a wheat field. A deputy found Dakota Calder, 22, early this morning after he drove off the road near Northwood. He arrested Calder for being in control of a vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

On the way to jail, authorities say Calder got out of his handcuffs. When the deputy pulled over to put them back on, they say Calder attacked him and ran into a wheat field.

The sheriff`s department couldn`t find him and decided to wait for daylight. They found him just before 9:00.

He now faces several additional charges.
