Sensor False Alarm | Video

Amy Fox | 7/10/2012

Officials at Minot Air Force are releasing more information about yesterday`s sensor scare at a missile launch facility near Parshall. Hazmat and fire crews were both sent from the Minot Air Force Base yesterday to a launch facility near Parshall to investigate a possible chemical leak.

Officials set up a restrictive zone around the site and Highway 37 south of Parshall for most of the day.

While the situation was a false alarm, Minot Air Force Public Affairs Officer Jose Davis says they`re using this rare incident as a learning experience.

"There has never been an ICBM leak like this ever to the ICBM system since the 1960`s. So, you`re talking about 50 years of a secure platform operated by the best country in the world."

Air force officials believe the false alarm may have been caused by nearby crop dusting operations. There were no injuries reported.
