Bishop Ryan Catholic School is one of the schools seeing large numbers much earlier than usual.
The hallways at Bishop Ryan are quiet right now, but they`re expected to be much busier this fall, especially with the enrollment numbers the school is seeing already. Typically, Bishop Ryan doesn’t get their big enrollment push until after the State Fair.
"Everybody kind of switches into school mode after that, and that`s when we really see a lot of the enrollment come through. So to be this early in the process and have this many spots filled, we think it is a pretty good situation,” said Assistant Development Director Jaimie Brunner.
With the growing city population, the possibility of school relocation often comes up when planning for the future.
"We`re planning on staying right here," Brunner said.
By adding additional classrooms for the 2013 school year, the school believes that they can still maintain these increasing numbers, but still keep the location which has a lot of history and tradition.
Many new families are checking out their options all over Minot to find the right school for their children.
"About Minot Public schools, about Our Redeemers, people who are coming into this community are really doing a lot of research. They want to know what kind of activities their kids are going to be involved in, what the educational standards are."
So far they`ve heard good feedback. Brunner also says that although you never know what could happen during the enrollment push in August, too many students is a good problem to have.
Bishop Ryan has already doubled their spots for preschool from 60 to 120. So far, 72 of the spots are filled.
Currently, their enrollment for kindergarten through 12th grade is 322 students.
