Car Thieves Caught | Video

Jenny Castro | 7/2/2012

Minot police responded to a car burglary in process Sunday night at the 400 block of 22nd street southwest near Perkett School. Two suspects were caught after a short foot chase and a third suspect turned himself in later.

The three were male juveniles of the ages 14, 15, and 16. A backpack was recovered with several electronic items.

The investigation is still continuing to see if the three are connected with any other burglaries.

"Usually you`ll get someone that does the same thing over and over again and eventually they`ll get caught. And sometimes you can put some of the property that they have with them at the time or that they`re connected to. You can link them back to other cases, so it`s a big deal for us. You finally catch someone that`s been doing this and hopefully that will draw a lull in that type of activity for a while," said Lt. John Klug.

Two of the juveniles were charged with unlawful entry into a motor vehicle and the third was charged with conspiracy to commit unlawful entry into a motor vehicle.

There were a few items found in the backpack that did not belong to the original case. If you live in the Perkett school area, the police recommend that you search your car and call them immediately if you find anything missing.
