Seniors in need of nursing or rehabilitation services may have a new option. The Baptist Home broke ground this afternoon for a new facility in northeast Bismarck.

The $25 million building includes a rehabilitation center to help people make the transition from hospital to home. The building boasts other features like an enclosed outdoor courtyard, restaurant-style dining and a new chapel.

When completed, it will accommodate up to 140 people.

"This facility will house 140 beds, that`s how nursing homes are measured. Predominately close to 80 percent will be private rooms and the others will be shared rooms," said Baptist Home administrator Augie Pepple.

The new Baptist Home is expected to open in late summer or early fall of next year.
