If you`re looking for some live music this summer, the band shell at Dykshorn Park in Mandan is the perfect place to go. For the past 17 years, there has been live music as part of the Summer Concert Series. Bands perform every Monday through Thursday evening at 7:30.

The concert series features a different band. About 200 people each night take advantage of the free admission to enjoy what organizers say is the best kept secret in town.

"Some people come no matter what style of music. It`s a beautiful park when the sun is shining and the breeze is quiet, just a beautiful evening. People are welcome to bring their children. It`s a beautiful place for children. I have people calling in April and May saying, `When is that schedule coming out?` Want to know when the concert starts," said Musicians Association President Julie Ternes.

The bands play for about an hour each night. The series runs through August 16.
