40th Anniversary of ESGR

A group to help employers support National Guard and Reserve members is turning 40 years old today. The North Dakota Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve was created on June 22nd, 1972.

Since then, it`s helped employers realize the importance of employee`s military service. But as good as the program has been, there`s always room for growth.

"What we need to work on right now in North Dakota is signing up more employers with statements of support. This is a document, it`s a nice certificate, a framed certificate with their company logo on it that says we support the Guard and Reserve and we value and appreciate these employees," said North Dakota ESGR Chair Bob Wefald.

Wefald says it`s also important for employers to hire veterans. He says most companies in North Dakota are good about doing that.
