Work Zone Speed Enforcement Results

| 6/15/2012

Earlier this week, the North Dakota Highway Patrol conducted a speed enforcement effort in a construction zone on Highway 83. A trooper in an unmarked vehicle monitored speeds at the Snake Creek embankment on Highway 83. Violations were then reported to troopers in marked patrol vehicles.

The enforcement lasted about two and a half hours. During that time, troopers issued 22 speed citations, 11 seat belt citations and 13 warnings. The highest speed violation was for 73 mph in a 40 mph zone. All of the other citations were for people driving at least 10 mph over the limit.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, there were 203 crashes in work zones with one fatality. The Highway Patrol says that additional efforts are planned for the rest of the construction season.
