Record Primary Turnout | Video

Retha Colclasure | 6/13/2012

The numbers are in and while they`re not certified yet, it`s looking like yesterday`s primary election set some records. More than 175,000 people cast ballots. That beat the previous high in the June 1992 election by more than 28,000 votes.

The percentage of people who voted was about the same in the two elections. This time, there were 69,000 more eligible voters in the state.

"In terms of the number of voters that cast their ballot yesterday, it was higher than any time since 1980 in a June election," said North Dakota Secretary of State Al Jaeger.

Jaeger says plenty of people also logged on to the Secretary of State`s website to track election results.
