Injury Won`t Slow Her Down | Video

In less than 24 hours, more than a thousand people will pack into Century High School for the Great American Bike Race. The race raises money for children living with cerebral palsy and related disabilities, like 6-year-old Emma Overbeck.

When Emma was just four months old, she suffered a traumatic brain injury when a TV fell on her head. Shortly after her injury, she began to experience daily seizures. Even though she constantly needs to be looked after, her parents try to let her be as independent as possible.

Thanks in large part to the Great American Bike Race, Emma`s been able to do that.

Last year some of the funds raised at the race helped purchase a bicycle for Emma.

"She`s more independent and kids around the neighborhood see her as more of a kindergartener as opposed to a two, three-year-old on like a tricycle with training wheels," said her father Jeremy Overbeck.

The funds raised at the race help cover families of children with cerebral palsy and related disabilities pay for expenses that insurance doesn`t meet.

We`ll have more on all the preparation for tomorrow`s race tonight at 5:00 and 6:00.
