Thief Caught in Rural Ward County

A man is in custody after reports of a car theft and burglary in rural Ward County this morning. Shortly after 8:00, police received a report of a person driving away in a stolen vehicle two miles south of Sawyer. Almost 20 minutes later, another report came in of a burglary east of Hwy. 83 on County Rd. 20.

Police realized the two incidents may be related and converged on the scene of the burglary. Authorities searched the area.

Edward Hickey, 50, was found hiding in a quonset. He was arrested on charges of Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Burglary.
