Minot`s Mail Processing Center Closing

| 2/23/2012

The Postal Service is making some changes in North Dakota. The USPS has decided to move mail processing operations from Minot to Bismarck and from Devils Lake to Grand Forks. Once the transfer is completed, the mail processing operations of those facilities will cease.

This means that all mail from Minot or Devils Lake will have to go to a larger hub to be shipped out.

"The decision to consolidate mail processing facilities recognizes the urgent need to reduce the size of the national mail processing network to eliminate costly underutilized infrastructure," said Chief Operating Officer Megan Brennan. "Consolidating operations is necessary if the Postal Service is to remain viable to provide mail service to the nation."

Specific dates have not been set for the transition.
