New Plan Approved to Fund Road Repairs

| 2/17/2012

Many roads around the state, especially those in the Devils Lake area, may be getting a much-needed facelift. In a joint statement, released today, both state and national leaders announced that the Federal Highway Administration approved a new plan to fund statewide emergency road improvement projects.

"Working together, we pushed for a revised plan so that counties and cities throughout the state can get the emergency road repairs they need," Governor Jack Dalrymple said.

The new plan reduces the county`s financial burden for emergency road projects. The state will also receive $19 million for statewide projects. The Devils Lake Basin, an area with continuing flood issues, will have their county fund match obligation reduced to about $6 million.

North Dakota had previously secured a record $317 million in federal emergency transportation funding this year. The total funds is now at $336 million.
