Traffic Accidents Claim The Lives of Two Teens

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, two separate traffic accidents on Tuesday left two teenagers dead in Williams and McKenzie counties.

The first accident happened a few miles west of Arnegard on Highway 85. A pickup lost control in snow and icy conditions, crossed over the center line and struck a mini van with an adult and four passengers under the age of sixteen. Everyone, except for the driver of the pickup, was wearing their seatbelt. Fifteen year old Amy Litfin of Williston was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other accident occurred seven miles south of Tioga. Fifteen year old Tarin Westby of Tioga was driving a pickup on a gravel road when she failed to yield to another pick up and struck it on the passenger side. Westby was wearing his seatbelt, but died from the accident.

The driver of the other vehicle wasn`t wearing his seatbelt and was transported to the Tioga medical center.
