Texas, ND Politicians Place Bets on NDSU, Sam Houston Game | Video

| 1/6/2012

This Saturday`s national championship football game between NDSU and Sam Houston State is highly anticipated. And now, two state governors are waging a friendly bet on the game.

If the Bison win, Texas Gov. Rick Perry -- who is currently seeking the Republican presidential nomination -- will have to part with a box of south Texas grapefruit.

But if the Bison lose, North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple will have to fork over a case of North Dakota-made Dreamfields low-carb pasta. Dalrymple doesn`t seem too worried though.

"I enjoy grapefruit. Betsey really loves grapefruit, and, apparently, it`s very sweet stuff when it comes from south Texas, so looking forward to getting that grapefruit," said Dalrymple.

North Dakota`s Congressional Delegation also made friendly wagers with their Texas counterparts. Senators Kent Conrad and John Hoeven are wagering a case of bison steaks and the Texas senators are betting tubs of ice cream.

Rep. Rick Berg will have to shine the shoes of Texas`s Sam Houston statue in the U.S. Capitol`s Statuary Hall if NDSU loses, and Texas Representative Kevin Brady will have to kiss NDSU`s mascot, if the Bison win.
