Brian Howell | 11/1/2011

It`s official, Gov. Jack Dalrymple is running for a full term as the state`s chief executive. He made the announcement at a press conference in Fargo this morning with First Lady Betsy Dalrymple and Lt. Gov. Drew Wrigley by his side.

The Republican served as lieutenant governor in the Hoeven Administration for more than a decade before assuming the state`s top spot when then-Gov. John Hoeven left office early to assume his seat in the U.S. Senate. No other Republicans have announced.

Democratic Senate Minority Leader Ryan Taylor is expected to announce whether he`ll run after this month`s Special Session.

"When I look at what is going on around our country, how other states continue to struggle, job losses and budget deficits, I am extremely proud of what we are accomplishing right here in North Dakota," said Gov. Jack Dalrymple.

Dalrymple is criss-crossing the state today, making the announcement. He`ll be in Minot this afternoon, and then Bismarck.
