Berg Tours the Bakken | Video

Jennifer Joas | 10/28/2011

U.S. Congressman Rick Berg visited Williston today and brought along a fellow congressman from Illinois.

The purpose was to highlight North Dakota`s success in energy production, and also discuss some challenges the city of Williston is facing.

First Congressman Berg visited with city officials. They discussed their land struggle with Williston`s waste water treatment plant being located on Army Corps of Engineers’ property. They also spoke about the recent news of the National Weather Service closing the Williston office.

The day continued with both Congressman touring a rig site owned by Oasis.

"Coming here in person is very powerful. You get to learn a lot more, and quite frankly it makes me a more powerful advocate for domestic energy production if I see it in action," said Representative Aaron Schock, (R) Illinois.

Congressman Berg says he hopes more politicians are inspired to come visit the Williston basin and see the activity for themselves.
