Gateway to Science in Bismarck was a good option for the family Friday night. It hosted its annual Winter Wonderland event. This year, kids learned about space and astronauts. They were able to see what astronauts wear and how they have to spend a lot of time training before they blast off into space. The youngsters were surprised by some of the things they learned.
"The astronauts have tubes going through their suits to keep them cold or warm if it gets cold," says Josiah Penn, 8.
The program coordinator with Gateway to Science, Christie Weixel says, "I hope they get my enthusiasm about astronomy. It`s such a fun subject, and I really hope that catches on to them, too."
The planetarium was also open for the event. Kids willing to brave the cold got a chance to look through some telescopes for a good look at the stars on this clear night.
