Burlington Students Study Farm Safety | Video

Stephanie Summers | 5/5/2010

Staff at Burlington Elementary realize there are a lot of safety precautions when living in a rural area, especially when your dealing with farm equipment. Students rotated between 11 different booths learning helmet safety, hazards on the farm, railroad safety and many other preventative measures you should know living in agricultural areas.

"Its really important that we`re heightening awareness of the dangers out there on safety," said Tess Bossert, First District Health Unit.

"If you can learn one thing at every booth you never know who your going to impact, you never know what their going to take away from it. One of our booths is the EMT first responders. Most people are alone when something happens or their kids are the first ones there," said Carrie Peterson, Burlington Elementary.

EMTs, firefighters and police officers were among the speakers teaching nearly 300 students.
