With the number one day for eating just behind us, many people are trying to avoid the average weight gain of seven to ten pounds that comes with Thanksgiving.
The Minot Family YMCA has seen a rush to its facilities this weekend as people hop on treadmills, elipticals, and do everything else they can to stay in shape.
Staff memebrs say the exercise areas have been busy at all hours of the day since the Thanksgiving holiday.
They say guilt probably plays a role in driving people to the gym.
"They want to come down here and feel a little better about the Thanksgiving meal they had the day before or the Christmas treats that come around now in December with everyone baking cookies and candy and stuff like that," YMCA Building Supervisor Kristi Olson says. "They want to feel better about snacking on all that stuff."
In addition to working out extra at the gym, experts recommend taking it easy on the leftovers if you want to avoid Turkey Day weight gain.
