Available Jobs in the State | Video

Nobody wants to be out of a job... especially during the holidays.

October`s unemployment rate has North Dakota at the bottom of the list at 4.2 percent.

It may be the lowest in the nation, but like most other states, plenty of people are still looking for work.

So, if you`re looking for a job to fit your skills and experience, there`s plenty to choose from.

Emily Dalzell is like most college students who are looking to start a new career after graduation. So what sets her apart from her competitors who are all graduating in the spring? She`s got her eye on job openings right now.

"You know honestly, I`m open to a lot of different fields. I would love something in design, communications, marketing, that type of thing," said Emily.

And having an open mind can be invaluable in any job market. Here in North Dakota, Job Service says there`s a variety of openings to choose from.

There are 9,000 available positions statewide. Among them, sales has 1,300 positions open, Health Care has 900, Office and Administration Support has 800, Construction and Extraction has 700, Transportation has 600 and Management has 455 openings.

"We`re diversified. We have strength in agriculture, in energy, and in many other areas, " said Beth Zander of Job Service North Dakota.

Job Service says although the amount of job openings is down from last year at 12,000, the state is still exceeding in areas that many states are lacking. And if a job seeker doesn`t find what they`re looking for?

"You may want to take advantage of this opportunity to career explore," said Beth.

For Emily who already has 2 degrees in arts, finding a job that`s possibly outside her experience, is a challenge that she`s ready to take on.

"I would like to find a job by the time I graduate in the spring with my bachelor degree. I want to start earlier so I can get ahead on things and see what`s out there."

And graduate with the certainty of a new job.
