Border Patrol Adds `Resident` Agents

Federal Border Patrol officials say a new program puts agents in at least a dozen sites along the border with Canada to work with community law enforcement officials.

The agency says its Resident Agent Program involves agents who can perform "the standard Border Patrol duties without a traditional base of operation."

The Border Patrol said resident agents are now at 12 sites from Williston to Ashland, Wis. The agency`s Grand Forks sector covers about 860 miles, about half of it water, along eight states.
