The Minot Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday to commemorate a name change for the college in Bottineau.
On August 1st, MSU-Bottineau became Dakota College at Bottineau. The name change was approved by the state legislature last session. The college believes that the change was necessary because MSU is a four year university and Dakota College has two year programs. The name change does not affect the college`s affiliation with Minot State.
"We are still very much apart of Minot State. This is just seperating us from the University so people know were a college. The name change also reflect our motto, `Nature, Technology, and Beyond," says Russ Gagnon, Dakota College at Bottineau.
The new name also brings a new logo. Both reflect the colleges location and mission.
