The Space Shuttle Atlantis and its crew of six are on an 11-day journey into space. But as far away as it is, there are times you can see it.
The Shuttle has hooked up with the International Space Station, where astronauts will be space walking and performing heat shield inspections. Here in North Dakota, you have the chance to see the shuttle, as long as you know when and where to look.
"It`s going to look like a bright star, but fast moving across the back ground stars because it`s going around the earth," says Bill Pearce, an astronomy expert.
You can see the space station in the sky here in downtown Bismarck. But the best place is away from the city where there aren`t so many lights.
" If you do this I suggest you go somewhere that you are familiar with," says Pearce.
And that`s not the only thing to see in the sky this week.
"Yes, we`re just into a so called meteor shower called Leonid meteor shower, named after the constellation they seemed to originate from," Pearce says.
To view the showers, again it`s best to get away from the city lights and wait until after midnight. They will be overhead until the November 21.
If you missed it last night, you will have plenty of chances to see it in the coming days. The next major viewing will be on November 22 at 5:41 p.m. and will be in the sky for about five minutes. For the complete list of time`s you can log on to KFYR-TV.com and click on the weather section.
