Western ND Tourism Numbers Up
Samantha Mehrotra
11/17/2009
North Dakota is still enjoying good tourism numbers, while other states continue to struggle.

Overall visitation to state parks is up and so is lodging. Transportation is also making impressive gains.

Amy Kreuger, Executive Director for the Williston Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the center saw more than 1,500 visitors this year, a sign that this region is faring especially well.

"Western North Dakota is one of the highest points of tourism for North Dakota. So even though North Dakota is shining, western north Dakota is shining even brighter a little bit, so it`s good, good to hear," she says.

Kreuger says the state will release new tourism numbers next week, which should paint a more precise picture of how our region is doing in comparison to the rest of the state.
