"In the bull riding world, this equates to what Kobe Bryant does, what Michael Jordan did, and you know, Brett Favre, all the great guys do, you know he`s a three time champion for producing bulls for the best bull riders in the world to win the world title," is how Dale Pahlke describes Chad Berger`s recent honors.
Berger`s place place in the Professional Bull Riders Circuit and in the bull-riding world is virtually unmatched. Chad Berger has raised bulls to buck his entire life, and they buck. His bulls have the best cowboys in the world saying `sign me up.`
"There are five awards you can win at the PBR finals, and we won all five, and so Stock Contractor of the Year, Bucking Bull of the Year, Bucking Bull of the Finals, we had the number one and two high money bull of the year which means they won more money on them two bulls than they won on any in the PBR, and we won the Bull Team Competition," says Berger.
Berger was awarded the five honors at the PBR championship in Las Vegas. He says nobody has ever won all five events in the same year. Here`s how good his bulls are. The Bucking Bull of the year and of the finals, named Code Blue, is listed on the PBR`s website having a 4.19 second average buck-off time and having an average score of 46.13. Another bull of his, Big Tex, was rated the number three bull of the year and also had stellar numbers.
"He`s the best Stock Contractor of the year for three years in a row, it`s a great thing for North Dakota," says Pahlke.
The Mandan native was honored today at the Mandan Community Center for his accomplishments.
"The greatest thing about this whole thing is it`s a team effort, and I just give all the credit to my help, and like I told you before, I`m a coach on a winning team, and there`s no room for any Terrell Owens on my team, let`s put it that way," admits Berger.
He says he doesn`t know if winning all five awards will be accomplished again. His dad, Jim, was world-reknown for Little Yellow Jacket, one of the most famous bucking bulls of all time.
