MLS School in Mohall is receiving a major overhaul, although it may not be obvious to the casual observer.
The school district is replacing an old coal-fired boiler with a new, state-of-the-art electric heating system.
Also part of the $2.3 million project - new ventilators in all classrooms and brighter, more efficient lightbulbs.
Right now about 80 percent of the work is complete.
The district`s superintendent says the improvements will have an immediate impact.
"We should get or should improve our ventilation in our classrooms," Superintendent Kelly Taylor said, "which should improve students learning. Some of our classrooms were showing that our carbon dioxide levels were very high because we weren`t getting fresh air to our kids."
Nearly one-third of the improvements are already paid off out of the district`s interim fund.
The rest will be financed through local revenues over a 15-year period.
