Grand Forks Base Medical Chief is Fitness Guru
11/11/2009
A medical staff chief at the Grand Forks Air Force Base is believed to be the oldest active-duty airman in the Air Force.

Lt. Col. Daniel Kulund, who is 68, has invented a physical exercise regimen that could become part of a national Air Force training program.

He already credits the program, called the Virtual Military Obstacle Course, with helping him get extensions of mandatory retirement from active duty. He`s cleared to serve until he`s 70.

Kulund`s program involves strength and calisthenic movements that help prepare airmen for fighting duty. It includes "fighting sticks" made of PVC pipe that are designed to simulate the size, weight and balance of M-16 and M-4 rifles.
