Health Care Co-Op Being Organized in 11 Counties
Marie Arceo
11/8/2009
A group wants to set up a health care cooperative that would include most of North Dakota`s oil-producing counties. The planning cooperative, which was incorporated last March, is named for one of its directors, Dr. Herbert Wilson.

The retired Bismarck doctor spent most of his career working on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.

Its chairman, Bill Patrie, said the group is seeking money to keep health care providers, consumers, insurers, state and tribal

leaders and others talking about the possibilities of an integrated system in the 11-county region.

Patrie said the co-op is not intended to be a national model but

he said that for the 11-county area, "it just felt right to us."
