North Dakota officials say a state lottery advisory commission has recommended adding the Mega Millions game.
The recommendation is awaiting approval from Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem.
The attorney general`s office says Mega Millions and Powerball, the country`s two largest lottery games, reached an agreement this month to allow U.S. lottery sites to sell both games.
The state Lottery Advisory Commission, at a meeting last week, voted unanimously to recommend the game in North Dakota. Lottery officials estimate the state could lose more than $2 million a year if Mega Millions is not offered and players go to neighboring states to play it.
Officials say that if the game is offered, the state could see a 10 percent annual increase in sales, or about $2.2 million. |
