Northeastern ND Farmers Waiting for Dry Weather
10/28/2009
Damp, cold weather has slowed the harvest in northeastern North Dakota.

Walsh County Extension Agent Brad Brummond says the western third of the county still has wheat, canola and flax to harvest.

Brummond says 30 percent of the county`s potato crop was lost to frost, disease, or drown-out. He says sugar beet yields are reduced.

In Cavalier County, Extension Agent Ron Beneda says 95 percent of the soybeans and 75 percent of the dry edible beans still are in the field, along with all the sunflowers.

Brummond thinks about 10 days of dry, warm weather are needed but he doubts farmers will get that.
