Karl Rove Dispute Continues
9/17/2009
Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says he plans to introduce former White House political adviser Karl Rove when Rove is inducted into the Scandinavian-American Hall of Fame in Minot on Sept. 30.

Norsk Hostfest heritage festival officials initially asked Gov. John Hoeven to do the introduction, but Hoeven is instead attending a departure ceremony for Army National Guard soldiers who are going to Iraq.

North Dakota Democratic Party Director Joe Aronson earlier criticized Hoeven about the induction, saying Rove was a "political attack dog." Hoeven`s office said inducting Rove was the Hostfest`s decision.

Stenehjem says such criticism could have been directed at previous Scandinavian-American Hall of Fame inductees who were sitting politicians at the time of their induction - like Democratic Congressman Earl Pomeroy this year.

Stenehjem says it`s appropriate that the Hostfest makes its decisions on hall inductees independently.
