Farmstead Fire Near Des Lacs

| A fire that took place Wednesday afternoon has left thousands of dollars worth of damage to a man`s farmstead. Around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, three rural fire departments were called out to a home about one mile west of Des Lacs, for a controlled burn that got out of control. The owner of the property, Travis Stewart, told authorities that he was conducting a controlled burn on an old building Wednesday morning. He then went inside the quanset to work and when he left, he noticed the quanset was on fire. Officials are not sure how the fire started. "We are going to investigate this. We are working with the fire marshall and the proper department`s to try and track it down," says Vern Erck, Ward County Sheriff`s Department. Officials are estimating that there is more than $20,000 worth of damage. |
