Alabama Escapees
8/6/2009
The Stark County Commission is holding off on paying the medical bills of prisoners from Alabama after questions about whether the county is responsible for them.

County officials say they are awaiting totals for all the bills before making a decision.

Two men who escaped from an Alabama prison in May and two alleged female accomplices face charges stemming from the robbery of a Dickinson movie store, shots fired

at officers and a stand-off near Gladstone in June.

Two of the suspects were hospitalized.

County Commission Vice Chairman Ken Zander says a bill for initial treatment of one of them was about $60,000 alone.
