Velva Sees Some Relief | Video
KMOT
4/16/2009
Water in Velva was still rising early Thursday morning.

By Thursday evening the water had finally begun to drop after 2 days of rising water.

The dike will be continue to be walked by volunteers until the river drops nearly another foot.

The Fiest`s ranch has continued to see water flowing through their land at a rate they have never seen before.

Their cattle are safe on higher ground, but the house has seen some flooding.

Their basement has 4 pumps to drain the water.

Sandbags that were filled and placed by local school students have saved the foundation of their home from any water.

Despite the drop, the Fiest`s plan to keep their sandbags up at least another week.
