Bismarck, Mandan and Burleigh and Morton counties say the flood outlook has improved.
But at a joint news conference late this afternoon, they outlined a few areas of concern.
Even though another 17 inches of snow fell over Bismarck and Mandan, Mother Nature seems to be cooperating where it counts.
The Missouri River did rise a bit, but it`s still well below its peak when it hit flood stage last week.
The Heart and Knife Rivers also look good right now, and most important, they`re ice free.
It was ice from the Heart River that`s believed to have caused the south ice jam that flooded parts of south Bismarck.
And city and county leaders say the latest forecasts they`re using from the National Weather Service show the newest snow should melt slower than originally thought.
However, Apple Creek in Burleigh County might be problematic.
Bismarck officials are also a bit concerned about possible overland flooding in some southern areas of the city.
Sandbags are still available at the Bismarck landfill, and the city is encouraging residents to brush up on proper sandbagging technique.
