Animal welfare groups from Jamestown and Mandan are rescuing 18 starving and sick dogs from a rural home in Cogswell, North Dakota.
Prairie Paws Rescue of Jamestown and Central Dakota Humane Society of Mandan say the first thing they`ll do after taking the animals is make sure they`re checked out by a veterinarian.
The owner of the farm in Eastern North Dakota wasn`t able to take care of the dogs, and the Sargent County Sheriff`s Department had to intervene.
The Central Dakota Humane Society in Mandan will be taking the majority of the dogs, but their rescue comes at an expense.
The shelter will be taking donations from the public, and is asking for blankets, rugs and animal toys.
Once the animals receive the medical care they need and are healthy enough, the shelter will be looking for permanent homes for them.
The shelter`s phone number is 701-667-2020, and for more information, visit www.cdhs.net.
