The summer of 2011 was one that Bismarck and Mandan will never forget.
Homeowners in both cities and surrounding areas came together to fight a common enemy, as the Missouri River rose to a level not seen in more than 50 years.

Neighbors helped out strangers, and the entire community banded together to fill millions of sandbags.

But many questions were spoken during those months, as people searched for answers and a reason for the flooding.

As the cities and counties continue their recovery efforts, we take a look back at the beginning of this summer, and see just how far we've come.
