DAN BROWN
Photographer
I was born and raised in Bismarck and educated at St. Mary’s Grade and High School. My family owned a grocery store and motel in town, so I learned early on the importance of hard work. I’m proud to say I was the only kid in 3 rd grade who could make change.
I attended Bismarck Junior College and studied auto body repair. I was drafted in 1971, and joined the Air Force and trained as a fireman mainly on B-52s and other aircraft and nuclear weapons. After I completed my duty, I continued my education at BJC, majoring in Psychology.
I’ve had a variety of interesting jobs throughout the years. I worked at the Bismarck Airport fueling planes and drove semi from coast to coast for a company out of Minnesota. I’ve also been a local part-time school bus driver for over 21 years.
I first started at KFYR-TV in December of 1992 as studio camera operator. In July of 2001, I was promoted to news photographer.
Some of my hobbies include cars, cars and more cars, 50’s and 60’s mainly. I was involved in street racing for a few years and that’s where I get my nickname, Racer Brown.
